By  |

Did you know It’s been taking place since 1966?

Notting Hill Carnival takes place over the August bank holiday weekend.  The main parade is on Sunday and Monday (25 and 26 August 2024) — but there is an extra Carnival warm-up event, the Panorama Steel Band Competition, on Saturday 24 August 2024.

Here’s what you need to know.

Saturday 24th August 2024 – 16:00-23:00

UK National Panorama Steel Band Competition  Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park, W10 3DH

Throughout the year all across the UK steel bands have been rehearsing and fine tuning their skills for this very important date on the pan lovers’ calendar – one of the largest steel pan competitions outside of the Caribbean.

The UK national panorama Steel Band competition sees five bands play a ten minute composition from memory – no sheet music is allowed.

Panorama competitions are traditionally open-air events and Notting Hill Carnival’s Panorama is no exception. Watch the sun set, eat Caribbean street food and enjoy the sweet sound of pan while the steel bands get on with the serious business of impressing the judges.
