W Hotel Muscat – Marching to a different beat

By  |

I was recently invited to experience the W Muscat Oman for Habibti Magazine and before you could say ‘We Love Oman’, I was packed and on the way to the airport.

W Muscat opened very recently yet has already become one of the most happening places of Muscat.  It is modern, hip and wittily eccentric; the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience a more upbeat holiday or stay.

Paying homage to Oman, the culture and tradition of Omani heritage are fused beautifully into the modernity of the W Hotel chain.

The music playing in the hallways and lifts, the, colours, the art deco all add to the stimuli of the hotel. It’s a vibrant and fun place with a happy energy.

Located in the popular Shatti Al Qurum Beach Area, The W Muscat boasts of 279 suites and guestrooms, an outstanding 1,800sqm pool which is one of two wet decks, a luxury spa with two hammam rooms, and seven restaurants, all this as well as breathtaking views overlooking the Gulf of Oman.

I arrive at the hotel to be welcomed with genuine smiles and greetings and lead through the huge lobby to reception to check in.

The lobby is vast and bright, with predominantly glass exterior walls and doors that lead in and light up the lobby, leading out to the swimming pool and those beautiful Gulf of Oman views.

Decorated with large black and white traditional mosaic floor tiling, and accentuated with hot pink seating and aesthetically pleasing coloured lighting, the lobby is a design sensory delight.

The check in desk is spread across one entire wall of the large reception area, continuing on from the lobby, feeling of open space.

Check in is efficient, friendly and I’m escorted to my room by one of the team members. The hallways and corridors leading to the rooms are as eclectic as the lobby, but with a more intimate feeling. The carpets are noticeably thick and lush and decorated with swirling patterns, which compliment the unique piece of holographic art for each pair of room doors.

My room is a combination of both comfort and art.
It’s an ample size room with a surprisingly large bathroom, wardrobe space, desk, and sofa and coffee table; with floor to ceiling windows that lead to a balcony looking out to the pool, beach and the sea.

There is an exciting vibrant vibe to the whole hotel, and I have noticed that I feel upbeat and happy since I’ve entered the hotel. This energy is perfect for both business travellers and holidaymakers.

I’ve unpacked and settled in and head down for dinner and decide to eat at The Harvest and opt for a simple mushroom pasta dish. Dinner is delicious and I enjoy my hearty meal peacefully.

After a perfect comforting hot meal, I sleep in my comfortable king-size bed and wake feeling reenergised.

Breakfast is an equally lovely experience again at The Harvest, with a very lavish breakfast buffet spread. With live cooking, and different styles of cuisines, there is something for everyone. My personal favourites were the pastries and muffins, fresh from the oven!

Post breakfast, I prepare to check out and found the whole process not only to be exceptionally swift but also very genuine; the lovely lady at check out took the time to enquire if I had transportation for the airport, organised my taxi and cash for the driver.

My stay was a short 24 hours, but it was enough time for me to experience both Omani and W Hotel hospitality.

Hotel staff are referred to as Talent, and even as an outsider and guest,  it is apparent that the company culture is about ensuring that the team at W Muscat are happy. A happy team results in happy guests – simple yet so important.

Thank you W Muscat for the hospitality, and injection of inspiration and creativity, I’m looking forward to coming back again very soon!
